Local Happenings and New Openings
One of the most frequent questions in our DMs is: Whatâs replacing Dosa Royale? The answer is Iberico, a new Spanish wine bar taking over on DeKalb Ave., first reported by SWURL Media. The project comes from Tamy Rofe and Colonia Verde partner Viridiana Escamilla, with chef Felipe Donnelly creating a menu of classic Spanish tapas alongside wines from across the Iberian Peninsula.
Natural wine bar, Well Nice, is coming to Bed-Stuy this fall, opening at 1038 Bedford Ave. Founded by husband-and-wife sommeliers Zoe and Joe, the self-built concept is returning to Brooklyn after a stint in the Hudson Valley. The pair met while working at a Manhattan wine bar and have spent years combined in the hospitality and wine industries before launching Well Nice together. They are currently raising funds through Kickstarter to support their move.
Evelina has confirmed with us that their beloved gelato cart will be taking over the former Sushi D space across the street. The team is excited to transform the seasonal stand into a year-round spot with additional flavors, though they have yet to announce an opening date.
Perspire Sauna Studio is planning to open this October in Downtown Brooklyn. The studio will offer private infrared sauna suites, red light therapy, contrast therapy with its proprietary SNĂ Showers, and halotherapy (salt therapy), giving you another place to sweat and recharge.
For the pop culture fans, hereâs your neighborhood celebrity sighting of the week: Deuxmoi first reported that Olivia Rodrigo was spotted in Clinton Hill with a mystery man. We wonât out the location I quickly recognized but I will say âClinton Hill manâ does have a pretty great ring to it.
Thinking of opening a neighborhood business, or know someone who is? NYC has unveiled more than 50 proposed reforms designed to make the process less bureaucratic, from cutting outdated permits to assigning dedicated case managers for new business owners. The package also streamlines requirements for barbershops, childcare providers, restaurants, and more, with the goal of making it easier to get businesses up and running.
After Do or Diveâs iconic awning fell in mid-May, the beloved spot has finally replaced it with a new version thatâs a close replica of the original. The awning was saved from the previous owners, so the replacement brings back a familiar piece of the neighborhood stapleâs look.
The World Cup may be over, but thankfully thereâs no shortage of things to look forward to around the neighborhood!

Burro Fest (2pmâ8pm): Bâklyn Burro is celebrating 10 years on Fulton Street with a neighborhood blowout featuring $10 burritos, drinks, art for sale, and other fun treats. Theyâll have DJs, guest star-tenders, a Burrito Symposium(!), the Super Baby Challenge(!!), and other mysterious surprises that theyâre keeping a secret.
It Takes a Village (11amâ2pm): Still Good is hosting a free shop for expecting and new parents at Cosmo, offering maternity clothing, bottles, newborn essentials, and other baby basics in the spirit of community care and the idea that it really takes a village.

Family Portrait Day (11amâ4pm): Local photography studio @itsfamnyc is hosting a free family portrait day at Cosmo, giving families a chance to stop by and leave with a summer snapshot to treasure for years to come. No RSVP needed.

Summer Movies in the Park Returns! (6pm+): Space Jam & The Namesake (respectively) are being screened in Fort Greene Park on the central lawn. The lawn opens at 6pm with the film beginning at 8:30pm. Space is limited so RSVP ASAP.
