👀 Here’s what’s happening this week:
Local Happenings and New Openings
Million Goods, the very chic menswear shop and wine bar, has officially opened on Myrtle Ave., bringing its Greenpoint cool-kid following to the neighborhood. Their tagline is “come early, stay late,” and with a moody lounge and long bar downstairs, a brighter retail floor upstairs and what looks like a backyard, there seems to be plenty of reason to do just that. Natural wine is served alongside the retail shop, which features a mix of menswear and denim.
The Great PUPkin costume contest registration opens soon, and if previous years are any indication, you won’t want to wait. There are two registration tiers:
Early Howl ($30): 10 am, September 21–October 5 (or until sold out)
Full Moon ($35): 10am, October 5–14 (or until sold out)
Registration is only required for dogs entering the costume contest, so spectators can attend for free. There will be no day-of registration, and the event sells out every year, so set your alarm, get the costume ready and grab a spot early.
Love Child Yoga is opening its second location above Margot on Lafayette Ave., bringing prenatal and postnatal classes, Baby & Me yoga, and strength training to Fort Greene. Founded by Neelu, a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Registered Nurse, Full-Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator and yoga expert, the studio has been based in the West Village since 2015. Neelu originally worked as an architect before leaving the field to focus on maternal care, later earning a Master’s in midwifery and building Love Child around supporting people through fertility, pregnancy and postpartum.
Lula Mae on Myrtle Ave. has officially made the switch from Cambodian restaurant to sports bar. The restaurant announced earlier this year that they would stop serving Cambodian food after chef Ranna Thou left New York to travel the world, saying it wouldn’t feel right to continue the cuisine without her at the helm. Now, the menu is all about burgers, wings and other bar fare, with one familiar favorite sticking around: the Cambodian dry-rub fried chicken. They’re also offering free meals for kids, making the rebrand a little more family-friendly.
Myrtle Avenue Touch A Truck returns to Clinton Hill on Saturday, September 19 for a free day of big trucks, working vehicles and plenty of hands-on fun. Families can climb aboard, explore the vehicles, pick up a free book, enjoy face painting and balloon twisting, get slimed with the NYC Ghostbusters and more. The event will take place from 10am to 2pm on Clinton Avenue between Myrtle and DeKalb.
Vendor applications are still open for an upcoming market at One Hanson Place in Brooklyn, with spots available for furniture, home goods and decor, art, apparel, accessories, and beauty and wellness brands. The organizers are especially looking for vendors focused on local or responsible sourcing, handmade quality goods, vintage, sustainability, and community. The market will take place over two weekends, September 18–20 (this weekend) and September 25–27.
Alts Tailors, Vogue’s “Most Genius Tailor,” has teased a new location that would make it their fifth Brooklyn studio. They haven’t shared the address yet, but from the teaser, it looks like Fort Greene Park to us 👀. Alts specializes in precision alterations and tailoring, from everyday clothing and formalwear to bridal and more, with a focus on expert craftsmanship and a more elevated, client-first experience.
With all of these new things popping up, I’ll be taking a page out of Million Goods’s book by going out early and staying out late ;)

Thursday, September 17 (tonight):
Open Decks (7pm – 9pm): Friends & Lovers is welcoming DJs of all experience levels and any genre, from jazz and ambient to house and rock. Sign-ups are first come, first served, followed by a raffle for half-hour sets throughout the rest of the night. Bring your own headphones, and there’s a one-drink minimum to sign up.
Nicholas Daley Takeover (6pm – 9pm): The new Fort Greene Million Goods location is hosting the launch of an exclusive ND x Theo Croker Blue Note Jazz Club T-shirt. A selection of the newly-released AW26 Rebel Riot collection will also be available, with Theo Croker and K.Tea DJing throughout the evening. Expect a mix of jazz, soul and spiritual sounds.
Friday, September 18 & Saturday, September 19:
These events will be happening over both days.
Filipino x Creole Pop-Up (4pm+): Frog Wine Bar is hosting chefs blending Filipino flavors with a Creole twist, with dishes like étouffée munggo, lechon kawali and lumpiang andouille on the menu. There will also be vegan options, plus ube bread pudding and biko for something sweet.
Not A Normal Fall Show (times are ticket dependent): One Hanson Place is hosting this fall shopping event across the weekend, bringing together vendors offering everything from home goods and decor to art, apparel, accessories, and beauty and wellness. The market will feature a mix of independent and design-focused brands, with an emphasis on handmade, vintage, sustainable and locally-sourced goods.
If you can’t make it to this one, you can catch them on September 25–27.
Saturday, September 19:
It Takes a Village (11am – 6pm): Los Amigos Community Garden is hosting an afternoon of art, spoken word and live music, with creative workshops and activities for all ages. The free event is centered around making art and green space accessible to the community, with performances and hands-on activities throughout the day.
Bazaar NYC x Gotcha Focaccia (9am until sold out): Gotcha’s Pop-Up Focacceria is partnering with Nirupa Konijeti of Bazaar NYC on two limited-edition focaccia flavors inspired by her supper club menus and late-summer produce. Choose from Tomato Chutney topped with labneh and chili crisp, or Brown Butter Corn with whipped goat cheese and roasted shishito peppers. Both will be available for one day only at Fort Greene Market.
Sunday, September 20:
Mind Your Hem (6pm – 9pm): Playground is hosting a beginner-friendly sewing workshop where participants can learn how to hand-sew and hem a favorite shirt or pair of pants. Bring one clothing item to work on and learn how to calculate the right length, trim, press and stitch your new hem. The workshop is led by fiber artist Mads Davis and costs $40.
September 21 – September 27:
Negroni Week: Ten bars and restaurants along Myrtle Avenue are participating in Negroni Week, each offering a special Negroni menu with classic versions and creative twists on the cocktail. Participating spots include The Emerson, Lula Mae, Putnam’s Pub, Rosticceria Evelina, Little Falcon and more. Order a Negroni from their special Negroni Week menu, then enjoy your drink while supporting Slow Food’s work to promote good, clean and fair food for all.
